چکیده

This paper presents an alternative to the semi-orthogonal spline wavelets classically used for multiresolution representation in the eld of computer aided design. This new approach involves less computation, is more modular, and is potentially more exible than the classical approach. This multiresolution scheme is presented through the use of HB-splines, a speciic subset of particular B-splines that include some interesting properties for CAD. The new approach is nally compared to the classical one, on this particular example. Splines andMultiresolution Analysis

Splines and multiresolution are two independent concepts, which – considered together – yield a vast variety of bases for image processing and image analysis. The idea of a multiresolution analysis is to construct a ladder of nested spaces that operate as some sort of mathematical looking glass. It allows to separate coarse parts in a signal or in an image from the details of various sizes. Spl...

Periodic and Spline Multiresolution Analysis and the Lifting Scheme

The lifting scheme is a well-known general framework for the construction of wavelets, especially in finitedimensional settings. After a short introduction about the basics of lifting, it is discussed how wavelet constructions in two specific finite settings can be related to the lifting approach. These examples concern on one hand polynomial splines and on the other the Fourier approach for tr...

Multiresolution B-Splines Based On Wavelet Constraints

We present a novel method for determining local multiresolution filters for B-spline subdivision curves of any order. Our approach is based on constraining the wavelet coefficients such that the coefficients at even vertices can be computed from the coefficients of neighboring odd vertices. This constraint leads to an initial set of decomposition filters. To increase the quality of these initia...

A FILTERED B-SPLINE MODEL OF SCANNED DIGITAL IMAGES

We present an approach for modeling and filtering digitally scanned images. The digital contour of an image is segmented to identify the linear segments, the nonlinear segments and critical corners. The nonlinear segments are modeled by B-splines. To remove the contour noise, we propose a weighted least q m s model to account for both the fitness of the splines as well as their approximate cur...

Multiresolution Triangular B-Spline Surfaces

We present multiresolution B-spline surfaces of arbitrary order defined over triangular domains. Unlike existing methods, the basic idea of our approach is to construct the triangular basis functions from their tensor product relatives in the spirit of box splines by projecting them onto the barycentric plane. The scheme works for splines of any order where the fundamental building blocks of th...
